Latest statistics from the Tenerife touristic board show that 98% of the Russian tourists who come to Canary Islands choose Tenerife as their holiday destination.
The Canarian Government has been working very actively this year to increase the number of tourists from the main towns in Russia and Bielorrusia. With these actions Tenerife is trying to fortify its leadership as main destination among Russian tourists and to establish its presence in the surrounding countries. So far this year in a total of 156.000 Russian travellers who spent their holidays in Canary Islands, 98% came to Tenerife.
Carlos Alonso, president of the Cabildo de Tenerife, explained that “we need to take advantage of the current success that Tenerife has in the Russian market to extend our marketing campaigns not only to cities like Moscow or Saint Petersbourg but also to other main towns where there is an enormous potential to attract new travellers”.
President Carlos Alonso reminded as well that “the great success of Tenerife among Russian tourists is reflected in the fact that in only a few years Russia has become our fourth emitter country and in 2013 the number of Russian travelers increased a 36% with respect 2012.
